Oct. 17 and 18, our departure from New York towards Atlantic Highlands, NJ. The marina at Atlantic Highlands was very nice. Mooring was 50$ with a taxi service, you just call them up and they come get you on your boat...great fun! The washrooms were very clean, it was great to take a shower. We met so many nice people. Surprise, Voyage was here (Alain et Angele), we had first met them at Chipman Point, VT.
Oct. 19, 12:10 departure for our crossing from Sandy Hook, NJ to Cap May, NJ! It took us 22 hours to cross, we arrived in Cap May at 10:30 on Oct. 20. Our crossing was great except that around 3:00 our instrument panel died. We were near Atlantic City, I want to thank the crew of Charlotte in Portneuf who suggested we get a temperature reader, Pierre took the reading off the motor, the batteries were still charging and nothing was heating so we decided to continue anyway. We arrived in Cap May in the rain and 20 KT winds. So tired!

Two Mile Landing Marina, Cap May, NJ
Oct. 21 Two Mile Landing Marina was a great place. Glen the dockmaster and Brad his right hand man were so helpful. The price for a mooring is 30$ and for full service 1.50$ a foot, washrooms very clean and nice laundry facility. The weather was not good, high winds so we decided to stay. Glenn took us into town to do our shopping. Brad brought us some fish that he had just caught, Striper filets, they were delicious...spoiled is what we are. Once again we met up with the crew of Turbulence (Bryan, Julie and Gabriel) which we had first met at Rouses Point, NY. They were anchored in the Cap May Canal, a nice free anchorage in front of the Coast Guard but I don't recommend this place in high winds. The boats anchored there were dragging, that is the reason we decided to stay at the Two Mile Landing Marina attached to the dock.
Oct. 22 Woke up to winds of 15 to 20 KT with gust up to 25 KT, the winds lasted all day. Odyssey was heeling 5 degrees tied to the dock. Brad lent us 4 fenders, we busted two of ours the wind was so strong. Waves were coming over Odyssey and the docks..it was unreal! In the afternoon 3 guys came to help us move Odyssey to a slip where we could tie her up on all sides. I have to say that people at Cap May are so helpful...thank you! Pierre had to go out and buy two new fenders and a big ball...for our next high winds.
Oct. 23 Staying in Cap May, high winds again today. Voyage finally arrived, they had left one day after us from New York, poor them had real trouble. They ran into some netting in the ocean and had to get towed. For those crossing, beware of the crab pots....they are hard to see in the dark. Voyage, Turbulence and Odyssey are leaving tomorrow morning, direction Chesapeake City!
Oct. 24 Left Cap May at 3:00 with Voyage. Had trouble getting away from the dock, the current was so strong, I had to push Odyssey (19,000 pounds) off the pillers, I don't know how I did it but I did. Voyage to had trouble, she is also a very heavy boat with a mind of her own. Turbulence was waiting for us at the anchorage. Woke up the bridge tender to let us get back to the Cap May Canal. Turbulence lost her navigation lights and ran a ground not even 5 min. into our adventure, she had to call a towing. We had no way of stopping to wait for her, the Cap May Canal is confusing and has a lot of shoaling. Sorry Bryan! In the dark it is very hard to see and the Canal is shallow. OH Yes, we ran a ground at the west end of the Canal, just before entering the Delaware Bay. For those crossing, stay real close to the ferry terminal, don't do like we did and mistake 2 warning buoys for red ones. We ended up in 5'3'' of water. We were able to get free because of the high waves and the motor on full blast. I must admit, in the dark it is hard to see! The beginning of the Delaware was rock and roll, they had announced southwest winds but we got west winds with waves up to 3 feet. Again beware of the crab pots, they are everywhere and hard to see in the dark!

We arrived at the Basin at 13:30. A very nice anchorage after almost 11 hours of navigating it was a nice place to stop. Lots of boats.
Voyage
Leaving Chesapeake City, direction Sassafras River, Georgetown, MD
We are now at the Georgetown Yatch Bassin, in Georgetown, MD. A very nice place to stay. The mooring is 0.80$ a foot with taxi service. If you stay 2 nights, the third night is free. And there is internet!
We are staying here atleast till Thursday, again the weather is not on our side. Our next stop will be Annapolis, MD.
