Bonjour à tous, cette fois en français...j'avoue que ce n'est pas facile pour moi d'écrire en français...je fais mon possible!

Nous sommes arrivés hier à Annapolis, MD.  De Georgetown à ici, 9 heures de navigation avec le vent dans le nez, des vagues de 3' à 4' est Odyssey qui nous a bercé toute la journée.  Arrivé à Annapolis il y avait une régatte,un sous-marine et plusieurs bateaux de la US navy, il ne faut surtout pas les approcher.  L'entré a été un peu difficile....avec tout ce beau monde autour de nous.  Bien sur, ma caméra n'était pas chargée, bien dommage!  Nous sommes à un mouillage 30$ et 6$ par jour pour l'internet.

Annapolis est une ville bien spéciale, axée surtout sur les bateaux.  Nous avons fait nos emplette et marché une bonne partie de la journée, c'est une très belle ville.

Demain nous partons pour Solomons Island, mais cette fois nous avons le vent qui vient du nord...on va faire de la voile c'est certain.

J'ai reçu cette photo d'Alain et Angèle (Voyage), Odyssey à quelque part sur le Delaware Bay.  Nous étions petit, n'est ce pas!

Staying in Georgetown, MD

Surprise, we are staying in Georgetown, we have a problem with our fridge, it is not cooling, can't let the wine get warm!  The weather won't be good till Saturday, I can't think of a nicer place to be stuck!

Oct. 27  Another nice rainy day!  This is a very good place to ride out bad weather.  There is a small craft advisory and a tornado watch till 20:00, we are not leaving.....

We have been at the Georgetown Yacht Basin for three days now (free night). For those travelling this way the marina has very nice showers, laundry facilities and free bikes.

Weather is suppose to be good tomorrow so we are heading for Annapolis, MD, spend 2 days and off to Solomons Islands, MD.

Oct. 17 and 18, our departure from New York towards Atlantic Highlands, NJ.  The marina at Atlantic Highlands was very nice.  Mooring was 50$ with a taxi service, you just call them up and they come get you on your boat...great fun!  The washrooms were very clean, it was great to take a shower.  We met so many nice people.  Surprise, Voyage was here (Alain et Angele), we had first met them at Chipman Point, VT.

Oct. 19, 12:10 departure for our crossing from Sandy Hook, NJ to Cap May, NJ!  It took us 22 hours to cross, we arrived in Cap May at 10:30 on Oct. 20.  Our crossing was great except that around 3:00 our instrument panel died.  We were near Atlantic City,  I want to thank the crew of Charlotte in Portneuf who suggested we get a temperature reader, Pierre took the reading off the motor, the batteries were still charging and nothing was heating so we decided to continue anyway.  We arrived in Cap May in the rain and 20 KT winds.  So tired!

Two Mile Landing Marina, Cap May, NJ

Oct. 21  Two Mile Landing Marina was a great place.  Glen the dockmaster and Brad his right hand man were so helpful.  The price for a mooring is 30$ and for full service 1.50$ a foot, washrooms very clean and nice laundry facility.  The weather was not good, high winds so we decided to stay.  Glenn took us into town to do our shopping.  Brad brought us some fish that he had just caught, Striper filets, they were delicious...spoiled is what we are.  Once again we met up with the crew of Turbulence (Bryan, Julie and Gabriel) which we had first met at Rouses Point, NY.  They were anchored in the Cap May Canal, a nice free anchorage in front of the Coast Guard but I don't recommend this place in high winds.  The boats anchored there were dragging, that is the reason we decided to stay at the Two Mile Landing Marina attached to the dock.

Oct. 22 Woke up to winds of 15 to 20 KT with gust up to 25 KT, the winds lasted all day.  Odyssey was heeling 5 degrees tied to the dock.  Brad lent us 4 fenders, we busted two of ours the wind was so strong.  Waves were coming over Odyssey and the docks..it was unreal!  In the afternoon 3 guys came to help us move Odyssey to a slip where we could tie her up on all sides.  I have to say that people at Cap May are so helpful...thank you!  Pierre had to go out and buy two new fenders and a big ball...for our next high winds.

Oct. 23 Staying in Cap May, high winds again today.  Voyage finally arrived, they had left one day after us from New York, poor them had real trouble.  They ran into some netting in the ocean and had to get towed.  For those crossing, beware of the crab pots....they are hard to see in the dark.  Voyage, Turbulence and Odyssey are leaving tomorrow morning, direction Chesapeake City!

Oct. 24 Left Cap May at 3:00 with Voyage.  Had trouble getting away from the dock, the current was so strong, I had to push Odyssey (19,000 pounds) off the pillers, I don't know how I did it but I did.  Voyage to had trouble, she is also a very heavy boat with a mind of her own.  Turbulence was waiting for us at the anchorage.  Woke up the bridge tender to let us get back to the Cap May Canal.  Turbulence lost her navigation lights and ran a ground not even 5 min. into our adventure, she had to call a towing.  We had no way of stopping to wait for her, the Cap May Canal is confusing and has a lot of shoaling.  Sorry Bryan!  In the dark it is very hard to see and the Canal is shallow.  OH Yes, we ran a ground at the west end of the Canal, just before entering the Delaware Bay.  For those crossing, stay real close to the ferry terminal, don't do like we did and mistake 2 warning buoys for red ones.  We ended up in 5'3'' of water.  We were able to get free because of the high waves and the motor on full blast.  I must admit, in the dark it is hard to see!  The beginning of the Delaware was rock and roll, they had announced southwest winds but we got west winds with waves up to 3 feet.  Again beware of the crab pots, they are everywhere and hard to see in the dark!

We arrived at the Basin at 13:30.  A very nice anchorage after almost 11 hours of navigating it was a nice place to stop.  Lots of boats.

We are now at the Georgetown Yatch Bassin, in Georgetown, MD.  A very nice place to stay.  The mooring is 0.80$ a foot with taxi service.  If you stay 2 nights, the third night is free.  And there is internet!

We are staying here atleast till Thursday, again the weather is not on our side.  Our next stop will be Annapolis, MD.

Enfin, l’Internet!  Depuis le 10 octobre nous avons navigué de Catskill à New York.  Le 17 octobre à Atlantic Highlands, NJ

Le 10 octobre nous avons ancré à Duck Cove.  Un endroit charmant, sauf pour les débris.

Le 11 à Kingston, la publication Anchorages de Skipper Bob dit qu’il y a un super ancrage à Roundout Creek de 8 à 10 pieds d’eau…ha, nous on s’est échoué,  après 20 min. à mettre le moteur à fond et zigonner on a réussi à se libérer…ouf!  En fin de compte on est resté à la Marina de la Ville de Kingston.  2$ le pied plus 6$ pour l’électricité.  Un quai très bruyant, avec des bird lovers qui nourrissait les mouettes, je ne recommande pas ce quai!  Par contre, nous étions en plein centre-ville et j’avoue que Kingston est une très jolie ville…pour ceux qui aiment beaucoup d’activité…c’est la place!

Le 12 octobre, un ancrage magnifique, à Pollepel Island.  Sur cette Île il y a les ruines d’un château construit par Francis Bannerman, un Écossait!  À l’encrage on voyait les ruines au nord et au sud le Collège Militaire de West Point.  Un endroit magique entouré de montagne.  Je suis une passionnée de train, si le bruit des trains vous dérange, je ne recommande pas cette place car ils passent à environs 50 mètres de l’ancrage.

Le 13 octobre direction Nyack, NY nous avons pris un mouillage à la Marina Petersons, 30$ pas d’Internet et les salles de bain, disons, sans commentaire.  Nyack est une ville magnifique construit dans les montagnes avec des maisons du 16 siècle.  A voir!

Le 14…New York, NY!  Nyack est à 20 miles de New York, nous sommes arrivés à New York à 10 :30 au 79th Street Boat Bassin et nous avons passé la journée à marcher sur Broadway.  Vers 16 :30 il a commencé à pleuvoir…mais fort et les vents, wow.  Il y avait des vents de 25 KT avec des rafales jusqu'à 40 KT, on c’est fait brassé!

Le 15 visite de Time Square...extra, le monde, les couleurs, il y avait un bull riding contest en plein coeur de Time Square.  Nous avons marché pendant des heures.  I love New York!  Au retour au bateau, j'ai remarqué que nous avons chassé, on a déplacé un mouillage de 1000 livres, faut le faire!  Il y avait encore des vents de 25 KT et des rafales qui dépassaient les 40 KT.  On n'a pas bien dormit cette nuit la!

Le 16, toujours à 79th Street Boat Bassin et encore des vents.  Nous avons chassé pendant la nuit et à 6:00 du matin on mettait un autre mouillage, avec 2 mouillages on ne risquait plus de chassé, malgré cela on n'a pas quitté Odyssey de la journée.

Le 17 octobre, 1 mois que nous sommes partis!  On a quitté New York pour se rendre à Atlantic Highlands Marina au NJ, nous nous préparons pour notre départ pour Cape May, environ 15 heures de navigation en mer.  Mardi semble avoir des bonnes conditions météo-logique...on verra!

Le voyage ce passe bien, nous n'avons pas été très chanceux avec la météo depuis quelques semaines, c'est la vie!

Nous quittons Riverview aujourd'hui le 10 octobre.  Nous ne pensons pas avoir internet avant New York mais 'who knows'.  Alors à bientôt....

Troy/Waterford to Catskill, NY

We are in Catskill, NY at the Riverview Marina where we had the mast put back into it's place yesturday, October 8, a great day!  Odyssey sure is pretty now.  For those interested, the price was 125$.  The shower here is very clean, two in a row...  So far with our antenna for internet we have been pretty lucky, even on moorings.  We met a couple with their kids who were not able to connect anywhere, they didn't have a long range antenna.

We spent the night, Oct. 7 at Castleton Marina on a mooring, 5$ for the mooring and 5$ for showers.  Castleton Marina is the first place since Chambly that the showers were clean.  And surprise, a beer was 1$.

We spent 2 nights at the Waterford City dock, free services and internet.  I don't recommend the washroom though!  Sorry Waterford!  It raiined so much that the river raised two feet in 24 hours and once again, they closed the Erie Canal and Champlain Canal.  I must say, we have not had much luck with the weather.  We left Waterford in the rain, but once we got to the Troy Federal lock, it was sunny for the first time in days.

Nous avons passé une nuit 'gratuit' à Whitehall, un petit village au sud de l'écluse 12.  Je vous recommande
S & J Eatery, le meilleur hamburger que j'ai mangé depuis longtemps.  Le proprio nous a donné de la soupe maison pour notre souper...déliceuse!  Le gens de Whitehall, super sympathique

Nous avons passé une nuit à Schuyler Yacht Bassin, des gens sympa mais trop cher pour les services.  La ville, parcontre est très belle.

Mechanicville offre aussi un quai 'gratuit' avec service.  Nous avons profité pour faire le plein d'eau et vider la fausse septique.  Après un petit lunch, direction écluses no. 3.

Nous sommes le 6 octobre, on est rendu à Waterford, NY ou le Canal Champlain et l'Erie se rencontre.  Nous sommes arrivés hier à Waterford/Troy, NY. À l'entré du Canal Erie, il y a un grand quai 'gratuit' avec touts les services.  Ce matin il pleuvait et pleut encore à boire debout, nous avons profité pour faire des courses, demain on va faire la grand écluse de Troy, direction Castleton après demain Catskill où on va faire rematter!  Yah!

Un petit bateau qui a passé à coté de nous ce matin, il rentrait dans l'écluse du Canal Erie
