Hello....

Après une belle journée ensoleillé, voilà le brouillard qui s'installe...assez spectaculaire à voir l'arriver de ce brouillard.

11 janvier, Marathon City Marina

Pierre a effectué les travaux sur la ligne d'eau, nous sommes maintenant prêts à partir sauf que là c'est la météo qui nous empêche de quitter. Depuis la nuit de mardi le 11/12 janvier nous avons des vents de plus de 20 noeuds et des avertissements pour les petites embarcations. Ça ne semble pas être bon avant dimanche ou lundi.

Je commence à :-(  !!!

Oups!

Nous avons fait nos préparations pour notre départ et voilà, une fuite d'eau dans une de nos lignes. Pierre a remarqué cette fuite en vérifiant notre filtre d'entrer d'eau du moteur. Le plancher était détrempé près du réservoir d'eau chaude, alors nous ne partons pas ce matin, ainsi va la vie sur un bateau!  Réparation oblige!

Tomorrow, January 11,  we will be leaving for Key West, the winds are still in our favour!  So today, oil change, laundry, groceries...and pump out!  Busy day!

Sombrero Beach City Park, yesterday we went up Sister Creek to get to this park.  Once again the houses all along these creeks are amazing, a real labyrinth.  Had a super nice day!

Marathon, Boot Key Harbour City Marina

Bonjour...Hello

We are still in Marathon, FL at the Boot Key Harbour City Marina...it is fun here and we have come across so many people that we have met along the way, even as far away as Rouses Point.  The weather has been very nice except for Thursday night, we had very high winds of 35 knots, we were sure glad to be tied to a mooring ball.  Today, we are going to dinghy to the beach, poor us, on fait pitié!

Many of the boaters that were waiting to cross to the Bahamas are doing like us, giving it up and doing the Keys.  Now we are all waiting for good winds to get the Key West.  Tuesday looks good so far!

Our plan is to spend a few days in Key West, on to Marquesas Keys and Dry Tortugas!  We plan to do some snorkeling along the way, we are in no hurry, c'est les vacances.

Hello from Marathon, FL

We left No Name Harbour on January 4 direction Key Largo.  No Name Harbour is situated in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, sorry but my pictures didn't turn out.  We are taking Biscayne Channel into Hawk Channel because of our 5'4'' draft, we can't go by the ICW.  We were able to put up the sails all day, direction Key Largo, what a nice day.  The water is so clear and turquoise, even at 11'' I could see the bottom.  The temperature today was in the 80's...

Hawk Channel, direction Marathon, FL

January 5, sailed again today, we did record time to get from Key Largo to Marathon, averaged 6.5 knots.  Just as we were arriving near Marathon, the US Customs and Border Protection boat stopped us, asked us a few questions and that was it.  I guess they found us too old to cause any danger  :-)

Marathon City Marina has a total of 236 mooring balls.  Incredible.  A very nice mooring field, 20$ with all the utilities one needs, showers...great after 5 days without one and a huge laundry room.

We will be staying here for a few days, there is another cold front coming our way with high winds.

Nous sommes rendus à No Name Harbour, Key Biscayne, demain Key Largo

Bonjour....J'ai vu des dauphins aujourd'hui 3 janvier, ça faisait tellement longtemps.  Le bonheur!

No Name Harbour, Key Biscayne, une super belle place pour se mettre à l'ancre.  Des photos à suivre.  Nous avons été faire un tour à la ville cet après-midi, personne parle anglais, que de l'espagnol, assez étrange.  Le parc de No Name Harbour est magnifique, on se penserait dans une jungle.  A voir!

Nous avons quitté Bakers Haulover ce matin à 7:30, nous avons fait le passage où on s'ést échoué hier. Assez stressant, le niveau de l'eau était max 6 pieds...marré haute et le passage environ 10/12 pieds de large avec des gens sur une barge qui nous fait signe de nous rapprocher d'eux le plus possible..  Ouf, on a passé sans problème!

Bye bye, Fort Lauderdale, malheureusement nous voulions faire le trajet en mer, mais elle était trop agitée, alors une journée...bref, pont après pont après pont!

Et oui, nous avons échoué à mil 1078.6, Bakers Haulover Inlet, on aurait dû regarder Active Captain avant de se mettre en route.   Skipper Bob dit 'Shoaling to 4,4' MLW on the east side'...mais non, c'était sur le côté ouest, pour les prochaines voyageurs...à faire bien attention ici!  Il faut coller les boues verte pour passer et le faire à marrer haute. TowBoat U.S. est en permanence ici, ça dit tout!   TowBoat US nous a amené à l'ancrage près de l'Université de la Floride, pas une mauvaise place pour se remettre de nos émotions.  Dieu merci que nous sommes membre de TowBoat U.S.
